Coventry council HGV drivers call off strike after accepting improved pay offer


 

Coventry City Council said it was "bitterly disappointed" that the bin lorry driver strike took so long to resolve after a deal was finally reached with the Unite union last week.

The row, which started in January, ended with an agreement that HGV drivers would receive a pay rise worth up to 12.9%, Christmas bonuses worth around GBP4,000 and that disciplinary charges against a union shop steward would be dropped.
