US’s CommutAir to change legal, brand names

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has re-issued commuter air carrier authorisation to United Airlines subsidiary CommutAir (C5, Cleveland Hopkins), reflecting a change of its legal name to CommuteAir LLC. The order took effect on July 26, 2022, and also reflects the registration of the commuter carrier's new trade name, CommuteAir, according to a regulatory notice by the DOT. CommutAir - legally registered as Champlain Enterprises, LLC - operates United Express services on behalf of United Airlines, which owns 40% of the company.

With a fleet of seventy-five EMB-145XRs and three EMB-145LRs, CommutAir is the exclusive operator of E145 for United Airlines, according to company information.

In its application on July 13, 2022, CommutAir - a Delaware limited liability company with headquarters in North Olmsted, Ohio - said its corporate name change would not affect its management, operations, financial condition, and US citizenship.

Any objection should be lodged with the DOT within ten days of the order date.
