2 die when driver fleeing state troopers crashes into truck in Kenly

Kenly, N.C. -- Two people were killed in a crash stemming from a high-speed chase of another vehicle on Monday morning. Footage from Sky 5 showed wreckage spilled out over US 301 near Interstate 95 in Kenly. State Highway Patrol confirms a trooper saw a woman in a black Dodge Charger driving 112 miles per hour in a 55-mile per hour zone along Oscar Loop Road in Wilson County around 8:35.

The driver did not stop when the trooper turned on his vehicle's siren and a chase ensued into Johnston County and part of Kenly. At some point during the chase, the driver of the Charger crossed the center line and hit a white Ford pickup truck head-on.

The driver of both vehicles were taken to WakeMed with serious injuries. Two passengers in the truck died at the scene. Their names have not been released.

Troopers are likely to charge the woman involved in the chase.

The surrounding stretch of road was closed for several hours.
