M5 travel updates amid spate of crashes and breakdowns

There have been a spate of crashes, breakdowns and normal summer getaway delays on the M5 and there’s no sign of that easing as we hit day three of the half term break.

Friends and family are hitting the roads now lockdown has eased, with hundreds flocking to holiday destinations in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Wales.

The warm weather means more people are likely to be hitting the roads than normal and the Bank Holiday weekend was particularly busy.

A crash has already been reported and cleared on the M5 northbound at junction 21 for the A370 near Weston-super-Mare.

There was also a collision on the A39 Beckery Roundabout, Glastonbury, at around 6.40am but traffic has been coping well.

There were long queues on the M4 after multiple incidents throughout yesterday.

A “medical incident” led to a lane closure as did a lorry and car crash which left a vehicle in the central reservation.

We will bring you the latest updates for the M5, M4, M49 and the biggest A roads in the Westcountry to ensure you get to your destination safely.
