Firefighters tackle blaze in Stoke-on-Trent bin lorry

Firefighters are tackling a blaze in a Stoke-on-Trent bin lorry.

Crews from Burslem and Sandyford were called to Burslem Recycling Centre[1], on Federation Road, shortly before 11.30am today.

A fire was spotted in the back of a truck. They remain at the scene.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[2] spokesman said: “Firefighters are currently tackling a fire in the back of a refuse lorry at the Burslem Recycling Centre.

“We were called just before 11.30am this morning (Wednesday 9 June).

“Crews from Burslem and Sandyford are using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to tackle the fire.”
