2 Dead After Watermelon Truck Crashes On NJ Turnpike: Reports

MERCER COUNTY, NJ –Two people were killed after a tractor-trailer carrying watermelons crashed on NJ Turnpike in Mercer County Thursday.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m., when the truck crashed into a bridge abutment in Robbinsville, north of Exit 7A, said NJ.com. The driver of the truck and his male passenger suffered fatal injuries from the crash which spilled watermelon across the road, according to 6ABC. The crash caused police to close northbound lanes Thursday night in the area.

Lanes reopened Friday morning.
