Yokohama, Bridgestone to hike truck tire prices in US

Santa Ana, California - Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) and Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations are planning price hikes for truck tires in the US, the two companies have announced. Yokohama said on 13 Oct that it will increase the price of "select" commercial truck and bus tires in the US by up to 6%, effective 1 Dec.  The tire maker did not specify what "select" means but said the increase includes drive, all-position/steer and trailer tires.

This marks the second price increase YTC has announced recently. It said earlier that it plans to raise prices of consumer replacement tires sold in the US by up to 5%, effective 1 Nov.  The tire maker did not cite a reason or reasons behind the increase.

Meanwhile, Bridgestone Americas announced earlier this month that it was planning to raise prices on all radial Firestone truck and bus tires sold in the US. Effective 1 Nov, prices will go up by an average of more than 5%, with some prices by more than 8%. The price hike, Bridgestone said, is due to current market conditions, including rising production and transportation costs.

Bridgestone last increased tire prices in March 2019 on its Dayton-brand truck and bus radial tires sold in the US by up to 20%.

It last raised prices on its Firestone truck tires in February 2019 by up to 4%.
