£75k prize for innovative concept that boosts port – Belfast Telegraph

Northern Ireland start-ups will have the chance to win a GBP75,000 proof of concept grant in a new competition launched by Techstart Ventures and Belfast Harbour with support from BT. nnovative thinkers are invited to submit ideas for technology to help lone workers at Belfast Harbour or for new Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that can deliver value to the port. The winner will receive the GBP75k funding from Techstart, with Belfast Harbour providing an environment to develop their innovations. There will also be a package of support from telecoms giant BT, including access to its 5G network.

Belfast Harbour said it's keen to stimulate innovation. Trevor Anderson from the harbour said: "Our 2035 vision set out our goals to become a smart port and to support the development of the local economy through partnerships that encourage R&D, introduce new skills and support innovative businesses." Now he said the harbour wanted to engage with small firms to come up with bright ideas for the operation of the port.
