Pick-up truck overturns in crash and lands on level crossing at railway station

Emergency services were called after a pick-up truck overturned in a crash and landed on a level crossing near a railway station. Police, paramedic and fire crews were dispatched to Talke Road, near Alsager Rail Station, at around 10.35pm yesterday. Occupants of the car were able to free themselves and were assessed by paramedics.

Firefighters from Alsager and Crewe worked to make the scene safe and quickly removed the vehicle from railway lines.

British Transport Police were also in attendance. A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters attended a one vehicle collision at the level crossing in Talke Road, Alsager. “Crews used equipment to remove the pickup truck away from the train line and make the vehicle safe.

One casualty was assessed by paramedics.”

A firefighter based at Alsager Fire Station also tweeted about the incident. They said: “We attended an RTC, vehicle overturned on the level crossing at Alsager Railway Station.

“Casualty had self extricated and in care of North West Ambulance Service. Swift work by crews to remove vehicle from tracks.”

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 10.35pm yesterday to reports of an RTC on Talke Road in Alsager. “We sent an ambulance to scene and assessed two patients with minor injuries. Police were on scene.”

A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed no arrests have been made following the incident.
