Truck trailer loaded with lumber stolen from Surrey business

A thief hooked the trailer to the cab of a semi-truck and drove it off the property.

Surrey RCMP is investigating the theft of a commercial truck trailer loaded with a container full of £20,000 worth of lumber. The trailer was stolen from a business in the 10600-block of Timberland Road on March 1 at 4:45 p.m. Security footage from the business shows a suspect completing the theft by hooking the trailer to the cab of a semi-truck and then driving off the property.

Police say the total value of the stolen items exceeds £60,000. "The photo quality we were able to obtain is not ideal for making a direct identification," said Surrey RCMP Const. Richard Wright. "Our investigators do believe there are people in the community with further information and we are asking them to come forward to help us advance this investigation."

Police say more than 2,700 pieces of West Fraser Mills-labelled lumber were stolen.

The trailer, which is numbered 234, has B.C. licence plate No. D8795P and Canadian Tire mud flaps, while the stolen container is a faded red colour and is marked "TGCU 503616-0 / TARE: 3770." Anyone with information can contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
