Drone Footage Captures Miles-Long Line of Trucks Stuck at Lithuania-Poland Border

A traffic jam stretching up to 30 miles (50 km) was reported at the Lithuania-Poland border on March 17, as Poland closed all its checkpoints between the two countries except one and began COVID-19 screenings for citizens returning home.

Poland has closed its borders to non-Polish citizens, according to reports, but freight is exempted from the new measures.

Drone footage recorded by Saulius Zaura shows what he describes as “thousands of trucks” at a standstill on the E67 motorway near the Lithuanian town of Barstine.

On Tuesday, Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis announced his intentions to open a second border crossing to ease the transfer of people between the Polish border, according to thefirstnews.com.
