Residents evacuated from homes as aftermath of Storm Dennis continues

The chaos caused by Storm Dennis continues as medics work to evacuate residents from their homes in parts of Worcestershire. West Midlands Ambulance Service has declared a series of major incidents caused by 'historic' levels of rainfall. A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The service has increased its state of readiness in light of the developing situation with flooding now affecting many parts of the region.

"Historic levels of rainfall over Wales overnight has resulted in water now coming towards Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, though many other parts of the region are also experiencing flooding to a greater or lesser extent. "The Environment Agency has announced that there are a record number of flood warnings across England. "All of the Trust's 30 4x4 ambulances are available to respond to incidents along with specialist resources including the Hazardous Area Response Team who have specific training in working in water.

"We are working with partners including local authorities, the Police, Fire and Rescue and the Environment Agency to support residents and protect the most vulnerable."
