A cyclist has come under fire after he was caught tailgating a truck.

In footage shared on social media, the yellow Lycra-wearing cyclist can be seen riding a short distance from the truck as it drives down a road in Adelaide

He appears to peddle directly behind the truck in an attempt to keep up with the driver, and has since been blasted online for the dangerous behaviour.

Many people have blasted the cyclist for the dangerous behaviour (pictured)

'The truckie wouldn't even have seen him as he isn't in his mirrors..

Absolute tool,' one person wrote.

'Just wait till the truck suddenly stops he'll do a better job flattening the cyclist than a roller,' another person said.

'And then wonder why they get run over,' another replied.

But some people thought the cyclist might have been 'slipstreaming' - a cycling technique where they take advantage of the airflow around fast-moving objects in an effort to reduce drag.
