Two semi-trailers have crashed head-on and burst into flames, but the two drivers walked away relatively unscathed.

At about 10.30pm on Monday, the trucks travelling in opposite directions on the Newell Highway collided near Jerilderie in western NSW.

Both male drivers got out of their trucks before they caught alight.

The drivers were not seriously hurt.

Incredible photos from immediately after the crash show the entire truck engulfed by flames, with smoke billowing into the night sky.  

Emergency services remain on scene and are conducting a full investigation.

The highway is expected to be closed as the clean-up gets underway.
