Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announces divyang friendly features in buses

In an effort to ease travel for the differently abled passengers or passengers with reduced mobility in public transport, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified GSR 959 (E) dated 27th December, 2019 to roll out amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules for the provision of divyang friendly features in buses. The amendment will be brought into force from 1st March, 2020. The amendment ensures easy travel for Divyangjan by providing them priority seats, signs, securing of crutches/walkers/canes, hand rail/stanchions, controls at priority seats and entry/housing/locking arrangement for wheel chair.

These facilities for differently abled passengers or passengers with reduced mobility will be ensured and checked during the Fitness Inspection for Buses.
